Aligners

Aligners - the principle of straightening the teeth A set of nearly invisible, removable aligners ensures the teeth move to straight position which has been arranged by doctor in special software. A number of aligners in the set is individual. It depends on seriousness of the treatment. Every aligner is worn continually for 7 days and then it's changed for another one. This way make teeth move to a desirable position. To make sure the aligners SPARK a INVISALIGN work well, they need to be worn all the time apart from eating and brushing teeth.

How old is this technology?   In 1945 doctor H. D. Kiesling  predicted that modern technology will enable making sets of braces for straightening the teeth even in complex orthodontic treatment.  In 1999, company Align Technology turned this vision into reality. Using an advanced computer technology Align Technology makes personalised system aligners - sets of discreet aligners SPARK a INVISALIGN. Since than, continuous development enabled to treat more and more difficult cases.

When can I start the treatment?   If you haven't seen your dentist for 6 months, have your teeth checked and fixed. Contact us afterwards. The process of setting a plan and making aligners SPARK a INVISALIGN is easier than with fixed braces. If you have chosen aligners, we recommend you to inform us about your choice right when you make an appointment. It will make the start of your treatment much faster. The treatment can usually start in  4 - 6 weeks after making a 3D scan of your teeth.

Advantages of aligners braces SPARK a INVISALIGN:

The aligners are removed before eating, so you can bite even the hardest foods.

Damon system - self-ligating brackets

In our office we use self-ligating brackets called DAMON, which are widespread and in our opinion they are definitely the best. Modern self-ligating brackets cause less friction between a bracket and wire than brackets with elastics, which makes the treatment easier and can make it faster up to 30%. Little friction of brackets together with other features of Damon system allow us (in most cases) to straighten the teeth without pulling some teeth out. Advantages of DAMON system compared to traditional brackets with elastics: up to one third faster treatment less often necessary to pull out teeth wider and modern smile fuller profile of lips after treatment brackets are rounded and more comfortale than traditional brackets white ceramic brackets won't turn yellow, they will stay white for the whole time of the treatment Damon brackets are available both in metal and ceramic design. Even ceramic Damon brackets don't need elastics holding a wire in the bracket and that's why they can't turn yellow. Elastics used with traditional ceramic brackets will change their colour just after a few weeks between visits. Although other types of braces we offer will help you achieve a perfect result, the treatment is longer, more complicated, less comfortable and some extreme defects are even impossible to treat with other types of braces. That's why, if your financial situation allows you to do that, chose removable aligners. If you want to get a cheaper and fixed solution, I recommend Damon system."

Using Damon brackets itself doesn't mean a better treatment than using brackets and elastics.

It's necessary the doctor has been trained for using Damon system, which is a specific approach to straightening the teeth. Only few doctors in the Czech Republic have already started using this progressive method of straightening the teeth.

Using a conventional treatment doctors aim to mostly achieve a perfect occlusion. Damon technique puts stress on face and smile aestethics, not only during the treatment but it also takes ageing of the face into consideration. A patient's smile and face should look nice not only during the treatment but also in 20 or 30 years after that. That is very often forgotten using a traditional technique of straightening the teeth. Of courese, a perfect occlusion is a matter with Damon technique too.

During the treatment we try to achieve a wide smile. Not only it is the most beautiful one but it also works best against ageing of the face.

The best effect can be seen in older patients, whose appearance looks younger thanks to this method of straightening the teeth. The ideal number of visibile teeth (upper ones) is ten. Twelve teeth are preferred in the USA. Braces Damon and removable aligners, which we also use in accordance with Damon system, meet the requirements of this trend.

When only braces won't do...

	Carriere Motion CLear A modern way of treating overjet. It is a bite jumping device which is attached at the beginning of the treatment and usually after 3-5 months it corrects the occlusion (the time spent with Carriere Motion depends on patient's compliance with wearing elastics). Afterwards we bond one of the braces (removable aligners or fixed braces) and we completely straighten the teeth to achieve perfect smile and bite. We use only Clear design of Carriere Motion appliance in our office.
	Rubber strokes Rubber rings that the patient puts on the braces himself. They allow the upper and lower teeth to move relative to each other. They are used in the treatment of minor overbite, crossbite and at the end of treatment to "bite" the upper and lower teeth into each other. The strokes do not restrict mouth opening or impair pronunciation.
	Temporary anchorage device (microscrew) A titanium screw, which doctor screw into the bone between teeth roots. It's a painless procedure which takes about a minute. Microscrews caused revolution in our profession after having been introduced to the orthodontic market. They enable the teeth movement which was unfeasible before their introduction.
	Hyrax A fixed device which is used for widening a whole upper jaw. A patient (or parents, a partner) turn the screw on the palate which widens the device. During the process of widening a gap between the upper incisors appears. The gap closes itself after a few weeks. The device stays in the mouth for about 4 months. We use it only in children at the age of 8-9.
